Gabriel Ferraris (Rome, 2012) is a young filmmaker and writer who has used cinema from an early age as a way to tell imaginative stories and explore reality through his own unique perspective. His short films span a variety of genres, from adventure to intimate storytelling, while consistently focusing on themes of growing up, relationships and identity. In 2023, he wrote and directed his first short film, Yet Another Movie About Zombies, which received a Special Mention at the Moscerine Film Festival. The following year, he made Waterlife (2024), a film inspired by the water cycle and the natural world. It received an Honourable Mention at both the Moscerine Film Festival and the Venice Lagoon Wave Film Festival, and also won an award at the Atena Nike Festival. In 2025, he directed Backstage, an ensemble story set behind the scenes of a theatre workshop. The film was selected by several international festivals, becoming a finalist at the MEI International Film Festival, a semi-finalist at the Rio de Janeiro World Film Festival, the Rome International Short Festival and the Paris International Short Festival, and an official selection at the Hollywood Best Indie Film Awards, the Tokyo Film & Screenplay Awards and the China International Teen Film Festival. In 2026, Gabriel was selected as one of three filmmakers under the age of 12 to take part in Young Filmmakers Grow, a programme developed by the Moscerine Film Festival as part of the Per Chi Crea initiative, promoted by SIAE and supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture. Mentored by filmmaker Mounir Derbal, a finalist of Biennale College Cinema, he wrote and directed Teensway, a short film exploring friendship, adolescence and the search for one's place in the world. Alongside these projects, Gabriel continues to develop new films, including Yet Another Movie About Zombies 2, constantly experimenting with different genres and cinematic languages. For him, cinema remains the most natural way to tell stories, express emotions and create worlds where imagination and reality meet.
